The Higg Index is an internationally recognized and innovative "sustainability measurement tool" that helps the apparel, footwear, retail, and manufacturing industries assess their environmental and social responsibility performance and drive continuous improvement. The Higg Index consists of two main verification frameworks, namely the Facility Environment Module (FEM) and the Facility Social & Labor Module (FSLM). It was developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), a coalition of brands, retailers, manufacturers, governments, non-governmental organizations, and academic experts. The SAC is committed to reducing the negative impacts of global apparel, textile, and footwear manufacturing and sales on the environment and society.
The Higg FEM consists of seven modules that allow manufacturers to conduct a self-assessment annually. Manufacturers can also choose to undergo third-party verification by SAC-approved verification agencies to validate their performance in environmental sustainability. This process encourages continuous improvement among manufacturers. Additionally, by implementing supply chain management practices, from raw material sourcing to the end of the product life cycle, long-term sustainability improvements can be achieved.
In June 2023, Nam Liong Global successfully completed both verification of Higg (FEM, FSLM) through an SAC-approved third-party verification agency. As a responsible global citizen, Nam Liong Global is committed to continuously practicing environmentally sustainable business policies in the future.
