Helping paramedics stay away from the threat of weapons and violence.
In recent years, there have been frequent reports of attacks on paramedics. According to statistics, there have been over 20 such violent incidents involving the Tainan City Fire Bureau in the past two years. Faced with irrational individuals, police and emergency personnel have no choice but to remain vigilant, ensuring that while they save others, they also protect themselves from harm and the need for assistance. Due to the various risks and crises faced by paramedics in the execution of their duties, there is a need to prevent them from encountering irrational patients or individuals who may become uncontrollable and harm the paramedics with dangerous weapons. Nam Liong Global, driven by social responsibility and providing pro bono technical guidance, has collaborated with the innovative research and development team of the Tainan City Fire Bureau to create a "Cut-Resistant Rescue Vest" that combines "cut resistance, lightweight, and breathability." This vest aims to help address the challenging issues faced by firefighters and paramedics, providing them with safety protection and comfortable duty performance.
Technical Textiles
On June 14, 2023, the Tainan City Fire Bureau and Nam Liong Global signed a memorandum of cooperation to safeguard the safety of Greater Tainan. The memorandum was signed by Director Lee Ming-Feng of the Fire Bureau and General Manager Scott Chang of Nam Liong Global Tainan branch. The collaboration aims to improve and enhance the effectiveness of firefighting and rescue operations through the innovative research and development team of the Fire Bureau, focusing on firefighting and rescue issues. Additionally, both organizations unveiled the jointly developed "Cut-Resistant Rescue Vest." This collaboration seeks to promote the exchange of technological expertise and research and development capacity among government, industry, and academia, integrating new technologies into disaster response and rescue operations. The initiative aims to provide paramedics with safety protection and comfort, improve the efficiency of firefighting and rescue operations, and lead Tainan towards becoming a smart city in disaster response and rescue through technology.
FIRE QUENCH
In August of last year, the Tainan City Fire Bureau, in collaboration with industry, government, and academia, introduced new technology into the realm of disaster response and rescue. They announced the development of an electric vehicle fire suppression blanket in partnership with Nam Liong Global. The electric vehicle fire suppression blanket underwent continuous improvement and testing. It is capable of withstanding high temperatures and can be reused. In the event of an electric vehicle fire, the fire suppression blanket, which can withstand temperatures above 800 degrees Celsius, is used to cover the entire vehicle, quickly suppressing the fire and preventing further combustion. Currently, each fire station is equipped with a minimum of three sets of fire suppression blankets.
Memorandum of Cooperation
Indeed, this fire suppression blanket has versatile applications beyond electric vehicle fires and can be used for various types of fires, including grass fires, oil fires, and more. Nam Liong Global’s self-made fire suppression blanket not only reduces research and development costs but also ensures a higher quality compared to foreign materials, thereby minimizing the potential harm to firefighters. Director Lee Ming-Feng of the Tainan City Government Fire Bureau expressed that with the signing of the memorandum of cooperation today, not only will the safety of the city's residents and their properties be better protected, but efforts will also be continuously made to enhance disaster response, making it more convenient and ensuring the safeguarding of both the public and the safety of the rescue personnel themselves.
