The raw material for Susterra® biomembrane originally stemmed from a joint venture between DuPont and the British raw materials manufacturer Tate & Lyle, known as DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products, founded in 2004. After years of research and development, it has become a sustainable, renewable source of 1,3-propylene glycol, derived from glucose. Importantly, Susterra® is entirely unrelated to petroleum.
The manufacturing process of bio raw material
The production of Susterra® consumes 40% less energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions(CO2) by more than 40% versus petroleum-base 1,3-propanediol and Prop. glycol.
